2010 Eureka! Leadership Institute: Julie Zeoli
I am the Teen Services Librarian at the Yorba Linda Public Library. I began this position in 2008, and have enjoyed every minute of it! My duties are to create, implement, and evaluate all teen programs. Additionally, I conduct traditional reference work such as collection development, research assistance and reader's advisory. I began working in libraries shortly after entering graduate school in 2005.
I served on the YALSA Local Arrangements Committee for the 2008 ALA Conference. Currently I represent my library on the Southern California Library Cooperative (SCLC) Young Adult Interest Group and act as the editor of CLA's Youth Services Interest Group Briefings Newsletter. Outside of the library, I volunteered for the American Cancer Society as the 2008 Committee Volunteer Coordinator and acted as this year's library team Co-Captain for Yorba Linda's Relay for Life event.
I pride myself on being enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working. I truly believe that librarianship is the finest of all professions. I know that the Eureka Leadership Institute will provide me with the life-long leadership tools needed to succeed in my library career. I am eager to meet other librarians who share the same level of energy and a strong desire to make positive contributions to California libraries. By taking part in the Institute, I hope to build a network of relationships with other librarians and gain a stronger level of confidence in my professional and personal life.
